Sweetest Day Weekend!

The plans were to go to my Red Hat event. Then... Laura invited Rus and I to attend the pig roast at the OSU Wakeboard Team's House, then to watch the OSU/Michigan State game there. I canceled out on the day with my Red Hat ladies. On Saturday morning, we quickly did our usual chores and errands. By 10 a.m., it was obvious, we weren't going to the Pig Roast. Laura was horribly congested, had been up coughing all night, and was now running a fever. So, instead of the Pig Roast, we visited Urgent Care, where she received some medication to help her recover from this chest cold/sinus infection. Several pills and some codeine cough syrup later, she is well on her way to recovery. Now to tackle all the homework she couldn't do for the last 2 days.....

When I walked the dog this morning at 7, the air was crisp and cold, the stars were still out, and there was a more-than-a-slight-frost-covering the windshields of the cars. This afternoon, the almost cloudless sky was just perfectly blue. Rus, Dennis and I went to another of the fabulous Metro Parks here in Columbus. Today's adventure took us to Highbanks Park. We took the 2.5 mile loop up and around the incredibly beautiful path, following the rambling river across the heights of the park. It is unbelievable to think that there are such beautifully, peaceful places here in a major city. This is probably the last day to see the leaves changing as the rest of the week promises to be true fall weather during the day and freezing at night! All those lovely leaves will be falling off for sure! Don't need any woolly-bullies to hint at colder weather coming our way soon!

We are preparing for our party next week. The guys have been hard at work all week, dressing the mannequins for Halloween. We have quite a collection in our living room now. I have been startled more than once this week as a breeze from an open window causes the character to jiggle, or part of the costume to sway. Oh yeah...the season has begun here at the Koch household!
