Columbus Day Weekend!
It is Columbus Day, but here in Columbus, where the Santa Maria docks in the Scioto River, no one has the day off. Go figure! This week, I worked on a couple of sewing rockers I picked up (using my carefully honed Delancy Street skills) at the antique store in Westerville. One is in great shape! The other poor thing needs lots of work! Good thing I have time to begin the stripping and caning project now. I was chosen to participate (If I had a lottery ticket, would I be this lucky?) in a Ohio Unemployment Department program to expedite my job search. It was a very interesting group of people, 90% of whom were over 50. I asked if this was unusual. Interestingly enough, the staff member said that she was seeing only white males over 50, but is now seeing more and more white women over 50. Hmmm.... Friday we all relaxed after a long week. We started with the best pizza we have found in the state of Ohio. It is a rare treat and a delicious way to start the weekend. Saturday morning brought our usual cleaning and errands. That evening our neighbors, Norm and Nancy, invited us to play Euchre. We had a great time. Dennis, Rus, and I played golf at Arrowhead on Sunday afternoon. Dennis and I held our own as Rus trounced us! You will all be happy to know Rus is working on his Halloween theme - Monster Mash! I know some of you are waiting with bated breath for the unveiling. I will post pictures in a couple of weeks as we prepare to host the neighborhood Halloween Party. We didn't see much of Laura this weekend as her Fall-break winds down. She spent the weekend at OSU going to the football game, pre/post parties, and played soccer on Sunday afternoon with her co-ed team. Back to the old grind tomorrow!
