WELCOME TO THE WORLD, BRADY RUSSELL KOCH!

BORN: MAY 1, 2009
WEIGHT: 9 lbs. 8 oz.
LENGTH: 20 ins.

Our Brady arrived 2 weeks after his due date at Brighams and Womens Hospital in Boston, MA. Megan had spent 2 nights at the hospital during this time, but when labor stopped, they sent Megan home. On May 1, Megan was induced. While having his first bath, the nurses noticed that our boy was having difficulty breathing. He was immediately transferred to the NIC-U. At almost 10 lbs., he looked like an ostrich among canaries! He was put into an oxygen tank and testing for a variety of things. Ultimately, it was decided that he had ingested amniotic fluid, which caused an infection in his lungs. During the process of expelling the fluid within the next 36 hours, his lung partially collapsed. So our little prince spent the first 3 days of his life in the NIC-U. The good news is that on Sunday evening, he was transferred to the stepdown unit and allowed in Megan's room. He and Mom (and Dad!) were released on Monday, May 4. He is home with his big sister (who adores him!), and his Mom and Dad sleeping and eating and doing all the things he should be doing at 5 days of age! We think he is just spectacular! (and we are not being biased!) :)
